CHANDIGARH: In a historic financial breakthrough for frontline public servants, the Punjab Government has announced a near-doubling of monthly wages for sanitation workers, successfully bringing a decisive end to the statewide strike following a high-stakes Monday meeting. Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains confirmed that the breakthrough was achieved during intense negotiations between the Safai Sewak Union leadership and a state delegation headed by Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema.
Under the newly ratified agreement, monthly salaries for sanitation workers will skyrocket from ₹10,500 to ₹20,500. This major economic boost is expected to directly elevate the living standards of thousands of families across the state, with union representatives agreeing to immediately withdraw all protest actions and resume essential urban cleaning services.
