In a bid to further enhance the digital transformation and computerization of government services in Punjab, PEPSU Road Transport Corporation is all set to roll out new online ETM machines in its buses. In this regard, a high-level demo meeting was held at the PRTC headquarters today under the chairmanship of Chairman Advocate Harpal Juneja and Managing Director Manisha Rana IAS with officials and CEO of Mumbai-based Omnific Technology Private Limited Mr. Amit Mehta and Software Engineer Mr. Pradeep Mishra.
During the meeting, the performance of the ongoing pilot project of new online ticket machines in Patiala depot was reviewed and the necessary points for improvement were discussed. Managing Director Manisha Rana on the spot ordered the General Managers of all depots to complete this project in the entire Punjab at the earliest.
Chairman Advocate Harpal Juneja, after checking the live demo of the machines himself, said that with this new system, passengers will not need to pay cash, they will be able to pay the fare online through UPI, debit or credit card. He further made a big announcement and said that for the convenience of the general public, a special mobile application is also being released by PRTC. Through this app, passengers will be able to get information about the live location of buses, online ticket booking and time table sitting at home.
Chairman Juneja said that such steps will continue in the future to further strengthen the IT cell of PRTC and provide hi-tech facilities to the passengers. He specially thanked Chief Minister Mr. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Transport Minister Mr. Harpal Singh Cheema for this pro-people and commendable initiative.
During the meeting, General Manager Patiala Mr. Jatinderpal Singh Grewal, General Manager Sangrur Mr. Maninderpal Singh Sidhu, General Manager (IT) Mr. Raman Sharma and IT Wing experts were present, while General Managers of other depots joined through video conferencing.
