Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has reiterated his government’s firm commitment to ensure all-round development of Kandi and border areas of the state. Chairing a meeting of the Border and Kandi Area Development Board, the Chief Minister directed the officials to make concerted efforts to promote tourism in the Kandi region and accelerate the all-round development of these areas. Calling for concerted efforts to boost tourism in the Kandi region, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the Kandi region has immense potential to emerge as a great tourism hub, which can attract tourists from all over the world. He said that the state government is making every possible effort to accelerate the development of this region and tap its vast tourism potential.
Highlighting the untapped potential of the region, the Chief Minister said that due to the neglect of the previous governments, the Kandi region has lagged behind in the pace of development. He said that although our government has taken strong steps to highlight the immense tourism potential of this region and attract tourists to its natural beauty. The region is rich in natural resources that can attract tourists from all over the world. Emphasizing on the government’s development agenda, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said, “The state government is laying special emphasis on promoting economic activities in this region to transform the lives of the people. The day is not far when this region will emerge as a major tourism hub of the country after upgrading the infrastructure.” He said that no stone is being left unturned to develop this region and modernize its infrastructure.
He said, “The state government is also making strong efforts for the development of the border districts. The residents of these districts are brave people who have always protected the unity and integrity of the country. This land is blessed with great gurus and is inhabited by hardworking and brave people.” Reiterating the government’s commitment towards the border residents, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that despite the valuable contribution of the great patriots and nationalists born in this region to the country, the previous governments did not provide equal development to this region. It did not see the development it deserved. Our government has made every possible effort to give a big boost to the development of this region. We are fully committed to the welfare of the people living in the border areas, who are true patriots and always stand with the country and its people. Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema, Chief Secretary K.A.P. Sinha and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.
