Bathinda: Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman held a meeting regarding the preparations for ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diya’ (2026). During this, the Deputy Commissioner said that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will inaugurate these games on September 5 from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Multipurpose Sports Stadium in Bathinda. Bathinda district will host these games, in which national and international level players will participate in a special march past.
He directed the Sports Department to complete the works like track, facilities for players, drinking water arrangement and cleanliness in the stadium on time. He said that the torch of ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diya’ started under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann with the aim of promoting sports culture in the state will reach Bathinda passing through all the districts of the state, where it will be warmly welcomed.
He said that these games are a big platform to bring out the hidden sports talent from every nook and corner of the villages and cities. Its aim is to channelize the energy of the youth, eliminate the evil of drugs and create a healthy and wholesome society. The meeting was attended by Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Bathinda Amandeep Singh Mavi, District Sports Officer Rupinderpal Singh and heads and employees of other departments.
